Ballroom Dancing

Learn the basic elements of ballroom, the different tempos of music, and the first steps to becoming a confident, comfortable, social dancer! Students will learn such dances as the Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba and Cha-cha! Partners and singles welcome. Get ready to put your dancing shoes on and remember, even Fred and Ginger started with the basics!

NEW!
This year Ballroom Dancing is going back to a six-week session.  Session I will focus on Rumba and Cha-Cha styles of dancing.  Session II will concentrate on the Foxtrot and the Waltz.

Footwear: Men – smooth soled shoes, such as dress shoes

Women – any non- rubber soled shoes (heels are ok, but not required)

Modern Dance

Looking to expand your dance education?  Try Modern Dance!  Modern dance is a creation of movement to match a dancer’s feelings and purpose.  This technique class will allow the dancer to encompass the exciting world of total body movement and creativity.  Not only will we dance, but we will learn the history of those who influenced this type of dance and their unique style.

Pre-Tap/Jazz and Tap/Jazz I

Pre-Tap/Jazz and Tap/Jazz I are combined for the summer session.

This class introduces young dancers to jazz and tap dancing. Students will learn a warm-up, and different routines as well as basic movement vocabulary and class etiquette. Hoops and scarves are used to encourage creative expression as well as age appropriate popular music to get us dancing. Pre-Tap/Jazz is a great fit for that high-energy kid who can never stop moving!
